BMW, My Default Favourite Above All Othersposted on 20 May 2012 in Cars and TransportI have always been a fan of my BMW car, not just an owner. Ever since I bought it from the local BMW dealer in London, I've looked after it so well. I like all the features of this car be its speed, design, mileage, handling, etc. I am having my own wonderful driving experience just driving to work and to shopping in my car. Surprisingly, it's a fuel efficient car and gives decent mileage per km. I always prefer to go on long drive (if I have time) in my car. I love to take my car to picnics with my friends. My friends also like this car and I can see their jealous glances before they step into it! Having said all that, insurance companies really sting you if you own a BMW - I shopped around for decent insurance (careful driver, never had a crash) and yet it's still expensive just because it's a BMW. |

My Favorite Logo is Simple But Incredibly Effectiveposted on 17 May 2012 in Business and FinanceLogos can be a very powerful thing. Sometimes when I see a particularly well-designed logo, it's stuck in my head for weeks, and a logo alone can make me want to purchase products from that particular company. On the flip side, if I see a logo I find below average, I'm likely to forget that company immediately and be much less likely to purchase anything from them should I notice them again in the future. Working in logo design for a Nottingham firm, I realise how crucial it is to get logo design right. Having said that, my absolute favorite logo I have seen is the logo from a clothing company called Rebel8 based in California. Their logo is very simple, but also very memorable. It's a medieval, pointy figure eight in black and white, with a diamond in the lower half of the eight. I've never seen anything like it before, and it looks great when embroidered on any of their products, ranging from shirts, to hooded sweatshirts, to fitted caps, to socks. It suits the theme of the company and their art style perfectly. I remember seeing the logo all over the place when I was in California a few years ago, and I never knew what it was for, but it was always stuck in my head. When I eventually came across it online a year later, I immediately visited their online store and purchased some merchandise. |

Susan Boyle's Voice Transcends and Defies Descriptionposted on 15 May 2012 in Arts and EntertainmentThis most recent album by the Scottish sensation has 10 tracks on the regular edition, but two bonus tracks on the edition sold exclusively through QVC. Two original songs are featured: "Return", co-written by her producer, Steve Mac,and Wayne Hector, and "This Will Be the Year" provided by Emile Sande, an up-and-coming young Scottish singer. "Return" may be too melodramatic for some, but just about everyone who's made a New Year's resolution can relate to the lyrics in "This Will Be the Year". The remaining covers span 70 years, from Gershwin's "Someone To Watch Over Me" to Paolo Nutini's (another Scot's) "Autumn Leaves". Boomers will remember "Both Sides Now" and "Unchained Melody ", younger listeners seem to prefer "Enjoy the Silence" and "Mad World", where Boyle has dialed down her famous vibrato to an emotionally flattened level. The bonus tracks display more of her versatility. "Don't Give Up on Me" is R & B, (with lots of effortless vibrato) and the surprise is a bouncy version of "You are My Sunshine" with a lively Hawaiian background of ukelele and guitar. In this age of online mastering and DIY music, it's great to see such a "nobody" as Susan hit the big time through sheer talent. |

How I Learned to Love Brown Sneakersposted on 13 May 2012 in FashionI bought a pair of Brown New Balance sneakers model 479 three years ago while visiting Arizona. I was traveling light and had not brought a decent pair of casual shoes with me. Actually, I normally wear a pair of mens sandals when not at work, but I needed something tougher for the days ahead. Facing a schedule of hiking, sightseeing, and cultural attractions I decided I should pick up some comfortable shoes to wear. I went to a sports clothing discounter in Phoenix which had aisle upon aisle of discounted shoes of every stripe and style. I am partial to New Balance shoes so I focused on those. I wanted to pay no more than $30, a figure I try to keep to when buying discount shoes, which I do frequently. I tried on many pairs finally deciding on the 479s. The felt comfortable, fit my large flat feet, gave me plenty of support and fit my budget, they were only $23.99. I bought the shoes and wore them around Arizona without a second thought. On my return home to Massachusetts I ran into an old girlfriend who noticed my brown shoes. Brown sneakers, she informed me, are not stylish. Well I looked down at my feet and thought she may be right. The 479s went into the pile of shoes I barely wear and out of my mind. Last month I was at a discount store that had shoe laces for under a dollar. I found a pair of brown and black laces and thought about my brown sneakers for the first time in a long time. I bought the laces, brought them home, and put them on the offending brown shoes. They looked different, better, so I wore them out. I ran into another old friend who asked about the sneakers, if they were new or not. I told him they were old but certainly my favorite shoes. |

Industrial Style Antiques and French Reclamation for Interior Designposted on 9 May 2012 in Home and GardenThere is an interesting design style which is greatly desired by interior designers. This is the use of upcycled or reclaimed industrial articles and refashioned into contemporary design features. This could be anything from old aluminium sports lockers to metal topped catering tables or old tabac or cafe equipment. Aluminium sports lockers look great when they're polished to a high finished, and interior designers love them as a contemporary interior design features in loft conversions or modern interiors. Refashioned or restyled aluminium or metal catering tables are also wonderful when polished and dressed with large jugs of flowers and high quality kitchenwares make stunning feature in a large kitchen diner or restaurant kitchen. As does French tabac, bistro or cafe equipment. The style of these 1960s or 1970s items fit in beautifully with a modern interior, and include lino topped tables, melamine items and chrome plated coffee machines and drink dispensers. An interior designer's dream! |

How pork is delivered to the market for saleposted on 2 May 2012 in Food and DrinkPigs are first bred from the time that they are young. They are fed with adequate food so that they can grow to desired sizes. When they mature at about 10 months the pigs are taken to the local slaughter house in Derby. There they are weighed and payment is given to the owners of the pigs. The pigs are then slaughtered and they become pork from then on. The pork has to be taken to the Food and Beverage Inspection Unit also located in Derby so that any micro-organisms can be spotted and subjected to intense freezing until they die. On passing approval the pork is then returned back to the slaughter houses from where pork vendors come to buy it. The pork vendors are the ones who prepare hog roasts in Derby so that customers can buy them fresh from the grill. This saves the customers time and the expenses of having to buy the grilling equipment that is also used for roasting the pork. The hog roasts are then consumed by the consumers as desired. |

The Person I Would Try to Look Like at a Fancy Dress Partyposted on 19 April 2012 in FashionSuperman, batman, spider-man and sponge-bob would be among anyone's choices for a fancy dress party but I would try to go for something more unique. Maybe I would try to imitate one my aunts or uncles who have a bad sense of fashion. My motive is to make people laugh. I would dress this way only if it was a fancy dress party among family though because if it were to be in front of outsiders I would appear to them as a total geek and they wouldn't even know who I was dressing up as. Maybe I would try to look like lady Gaga or Paris Hilton in such instances where outsiders our present. We all know Lady Gaga's unique sense of styles, and it's definitely good enough for a fancy dress party. Sometimes I'd rather just dress up as myself because to me I am my style icon and my style is wearing what I am comfortable in. More on this Topic: wisegeek.com | investopedia.com |

Gift Dilemmas: Finding the Perfect Presentposted on 18 April 2012 in FashionI find it very important to find the perfect present for my friends and family, and will often spend a very long time thinking about what I want to buy for someone, instead of rushing to a shop only a couple of hours before a party starts. I know that people appreciate my presents because they know that I have put a lot of energy and thought into them, and I almost never get it wrong. I occasionally even make jewellery for the female members of my family using my jewellery making supplies. I have also noticed that my parents tend to copy my ideas and give similar presents to other members of the family the following year. An example of a good present was a personalized calender with pictures taken by my father. He loves photopgraphy and takes very interesting pictures. I compiles some of my favourites images and associated each picture to a fitting month. Another present my ex boyfriend received from me was a rugby ball signed by all of the players in the local team (montpellier, south of France). He is a huge supporter of them and was extremely happy to receive the ball, wondering how I had managed to get it. Lastly I would like to cite the personalised way of giving presents, when we celebrated our 18 months anniversary with my current boyrfriend I hid 18 different presents, all with hearts on them, all over the apartment, including small notes hinting at what was under the wrapping paper. On My In-built Swimming Pool In My Houseposted on 16 April 2012 in Construction and IndustrialThe house I live in is amazing - it's a self-build with my uncle who works for a fibreglass roofing company helping out greatly with the construction of this place. The main level has three bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. The basement has a large family room, a store room, bed room, and a bathroom. My basements family room has a large 64 inch television. The couch is very large and comfortable. My room is downstairs and I love living downstairs because I can do whatever I want and stay up late at night. I play xbox and watch netflix every night because I live in my basement. The outside of my house has a in-ground pool with a very nice deck. The pool is 10 feet deep and I have spent many years swimming there and keeping fit. Everything I need is in my house, even the ability to keep fit. |

Finding Love and Support from Mom and Dadposted on 15 April 2012 in TechnologyWhen the going gets tough, I know I am never alone. I am blessed with a family that is very supportive. I know for sure that I can run to them for anything, at anytime. They have proven that to me, and I could not thank them enough. My parents are old, but just the same, they still take care of me, in a way that no one else can. They have expressed their concern about me not yet getting married. They believe that it is best for me to have a family of my own. They worry that I might find it hard to live by myself when they are gone. My parents and I are very close. They provide me with the help line I need every now and then. You know what they say, that life is not a bed of roses. I agree, its definitely not all glory! In fact, I realize life can bring so much pain, too. But I guess its all part of being human both joy and pain. Whats important is there are people to share the journey with. |

The Various Uses of Comparison Websites to Consumersposted on 12 April 2012 in Recreation and HobbiesProducts and services available in the market have varying prices depending on their content and functions. Pricing of goods or services is done by the manufacturer of by the seller. If someone is buying form the manufacturer, they will buy whatever they want according to the manufacturers price and if they are buying from retailers then the price differs. Price Comparison Sites are websites that are involved with availing of prices of different commodities. Not only do they avail the prices but also do some comparisons. The comparisons are meant to help consumers decide where to buy what. They get to know where to buy the commodities they want at the price they can afford. They also get help with budgeting. When they know how much the products and services cost, they can include that in their budget hence spend wisely and according to their affordability. Comparison sites are useful when inquiring about prices of various goods and services. The prices of the products being inquired about are displayed for everyone to see. Consumers can be able to spend according to their capability. |

Upcoming Changes Planned for My Houseposted on 10 April 2012 in Home and GardenThere are several things I would like to change about my self build house in order to make it more appealing. I am in the process of gradually implementing all these changes when I have extra funds to pay for materials and labor. I have already accomplished a good amount of my goals but there are still some projects that are in the works. The first priority is getting new carpet, or doing away with carpet completely and going with tile instead. Our carpet is hideous and is utility or outdoor cast that is very thin and snags often, getting unsightly runners. It is not tacked down good along the edges so it unravels along the edges. Another thing I'm planning on changing is the cheap la inmate countertops. I want to replace them with granite or marble instead. The next thing I'm going to change is the kitchen floor. Currently it is made out of linoleum and ugly. I want to tile the kitchen floor in ceramic tiles of some sort to make it look better and worth more. |

Things Turn Sour at Work All of a Suddenposted on 9 April 2012 in TechnologyThe moment Maria entered the room, her officemates already noticed that something was bothering her. Looking at her, everyone knew that she just finished crying. Being her best friend, Vanessa approached her in her cubicle, closed the door and said, You can't deny that there is a problem. You can tell me, you know. I am your friend, Maria. Maria cried all the more. Vanessa waited until she felt like saying something. After about thirty minutes, Maria said, My boss told me earlier that I am on the verge of getting fired. She was so upset because I failed to get samsung technical support for him. I wanted to explain myself but he did not even give me a chance. I feel so bad because she made me feel like I did not do anything right since I worked for this company. I thought she was being unfair because everybody here knows how hard I work. But she is just so hard to please. I feel so bad. I'm so tired crying but I can't stop. What will I do? Vanessa continued to listen to her friend. |

Motorhomes for Vacation and Retirement Livingposted on 8 April 2012 in Holiday and TravelFor many years I have seen how much friends and colleagues enjoy going on vacation with recreational vehicles (RVs) or campers. Using these vehicles gives them the freedom to drive where they want and never have to worry about finding a place to stay for the night. I am looking forward to kicking off retirement with about a year long vacation in an RV. My goal is to visit as many US states and Canadian provinces as possible during this time. The motorhome will let me stay as long I want in a place before moving along to the next place. I'll never have to worry about sticking to a rigid schedule to make sure I get to the next hotel in time. Some retirees have recently chosen to live indefinitely in their motorhomes during retirement. It can actually be cheaper to live and do some travel in a motorhome than to live in a standard house or apartment. |

Could Something Like This Happen In The Future?posted on 5 April 2012 in TechnologyDon't you have times that you wouldn't want people to know who you're talking to or who is texting you? Well you really can't avoid people who love to get into your private life with no particular reason at all. So at times you would try to mask the identity of the person that you talk with by using a different name on the number or not save the number on your phone at all. I wonder if there is a way to reverse phone numbers when you save them in your phone. I mean you put the number in and have the option to reverse the numbers when you save it. If there is one in the market today then I would love to get one now. I think you will need a smart phone for this function. Cause it would take a lot of programming to get this working without a hitch. And to add, the record should never show even if someone dials the number on your phone. Wouldn't that be nice? |

Wind Water Earth Fire, and Heart?posted on 31 March 2012 in TechnologyI grew up watching the classic children's show Captain Planet. For anyone who didn't watch it, it was a shameless attempt to educate children to be eco conscious. It managed to boil down all the world's environmental issues into their most basic elements and presented it all in some very flimsy sugar coated ways. It was true 80's magic and I watched it every week at the edge of my seat. With their powers combined our five heroes would summon the magical entity Captain Planet, who would magically save elephants from extinction, or the coastline from an oil spill. Now I'm a dad, and everyday I read articles about the environmental end of the world or I watch videos about the atrocities we commit as the human species. It makes me wonder where Captain Planet went wrong? It's now more than twenty years later and we should be seeing some impact from these good intentions. Shouldn't we? Or are we still waiting for Captain Planet to show up? I think they missed the point. The environment won't fix itself. It wont go back the the way it was. It's taken 200 years of poor decisions, lazy attitudes and industrial revolution to get this far from what it was. We are taught that separating garbage, recycling and compostable waste will set us right again, but that's just a big lie. It's going to take an equal amount of upstanding morals, back breaking work and and social and economical revolution to get back to where we were - it may take even more. From wind turbines to solar panels, we'll need to lose our love for fossil fuels which is going to be the biggest wrench for many. So what did Captain Planet get right? I would have to say... Heart. Yes, the most mocked part of that entire show was the part that got it right. We as the human organism need a change of heart, and I think that might be the hardest change of all. |

On Making Your Ordinary Outfit Look Beautiful and Unusualposted on 31 March 2012 in FashionWearing jewelry has always been my favorite way to improve my look. People have always made jewelry of precious stones, various metals, and glass. Women and men wear jewelry because they enjoy their beauty. There are different styles, and pieces of jewelry. I prefer earrings. It does not matter what they are made of: gold or imitation, equally I enjoy them. Also, I adore pearls. A special feature of pearls is their uniqueness. There are no two identical pearls in the world, and that makes them a valuable asset, because no one will have that same pearl like yours - you can find pearls in fashion necklaces, earrings and rings amongst other jewelry. You do not have to spend a fortune to buy beautiful jewelry. Sometimes less is actually more, and really makes you feel special. Jewelry allows me to show my uniqueness and creativity. When you wear something simple and monotonous appropriate piece of jewelry put you in the center of attention, and you will be noticed for sure. More on this Topic: telegraph.co.uk | infoplease.com |

Do not ever be discouraged by other people in what you are doingposted on 30 March 2012 in Arts and EntertainmentWhen you are doing something or you want to do something which will enhance you success it is better not to look at the people around you or what your neighbor is doing because if you do you may end up failing to complete your mission and end up changing your mind and start copycatting them. Be original and not imitate what other people are doing and by so doing you will end up being a successful person in the future. When I get to figure out some people like britney spears am so much honored to be who I am today. This musician always inspires me and makes me to be strong and continue with life with or without problems. She is one of many musicians who have shown that they can do better in their music industry despite what people say about them. She started her career many years ago and up to now she has never regretted doing music because it has given her prowess and fame all over the world. She always make me gain courage in life and face the world and feel unbeatable. |

A Kitchen With Light Air and Convenienceposted on 29 March 2012 in Home and GardenMy house is old and lacking in light, charm and convenience. The kitchen is a nightmare. I must walk across the room a dozen times from sink to stove to fridge. If I had the budget the cooking space would be small and U shaped. It would be only a few steps in any direction to get to what I needed. There would be tons of storage and counter space. I think I'd need to add some folding tables and chairs to create this extra necessary space. There would enough room for a small breakfast table off to one side. And there would be a bay window. The window would allow light to flood in. The walls would be a pale turquoise and all appliances would be white to reflect the light. Glass shelves along the bay window would allow it to serve as a kind of mini greenhouse. Pots of herbs would be ready to add freshness to otherwise bland winter stews and soups. I would be able to open the windows in good weather to enjoy the fresh air and to discharge the inevitable cooking smells. |
